There can be one of the following issue

1. Not properly configured USB port.
2. Old USB port
3. Bad USB drive

Verify If it’s your computer or USB drive that won’t read by checking if drive works on another computer or not. If other computer can read drive but your computer is not then try the following solution.

You can try to connect other USB drive if issue still persist then do the below settings accordingly

Solution 1:-

Check the device manager and scan for the hardware changes
1. Click Start then Run.
2. Type devmgmt.msc then click Ok device manager window will appear
3. In device manager click computer so that it highlight

4. Right click on Computer name and then select Scan for Hardware Changes.
5. Restart your computer and then check again

Solution 2 :-

1. Open Computer
2. Right Click on USB drive icon
3. Click Format
4. In the format windows select format of either FAT or FAT32 and click ok.

This is common problem faced by the user.

Some time you may get the error message “Remove the write protection or use another disk” while copying modifying or deleting files.

In such case we should not assume that pen drive is virus infected. This is just the writhe protection problem on the pen drive which can be removed.

Solution 1

Follow below steps to enable the modification.
1. Open start menu go to Run

2. Type regedit and press enter, A registry window will appear

3. Then navigate to the following path

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies

4. Double click the key WriteProtect in the right pane and set the value to 0

5. Then press OK and exit from the registry.

6. Restart your computer and then reconnect your pen drive to the system.

Solution 2:-

Use the HP Drive Key Boot Utility Method. In most of the scenario it should work
